VBAC Resources

As part of this journey, I am reaching out to many resources including books, websites and social media. This is a list of sources that I have found to provide a significant emotional impact, encouraging words, facts and statistics, and other useful information for women who are working towards VBAC.

VBAC: Making a Mountain out of a Molehill
This is a very good blog post by a midwife in Australia, and is her view as a provider of VBAC.

ICAN: International Cesarean Awareness Network. The International Cesarean Awareness Network, Inc. (ICAN) is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve maternal-child health by preventing unnecessary cesareans through education, providing support for cesarean recovery, and promoting Vaginal Birth After Cesarean (VBAC).

Childbirth Connection: Best Evidence: Vaginal Birth After Cesarean This article compares the risks associated with VBAC versus the risks associated with a Repeat Cesarean.

American Pregnancy Association: VBAC  This page is the APA information regarding VBAC.  Some good information, although the requirements that they list to qualify for a VBAC are different than those listed in other sources and states that you have to have less than 2 previous cesarean births to qualify.  Other sources have an increased number depending on providers.

VBAC.com  provides childbearing women and maternity care professionals access to evidence-based resources, educational materials, and support for VBAC and cesarean prevention.

Cut, Stapled, and Mended: by Roanna Rosewood. One woman reclaimed her body and gave birth on her own terms after cesarean.

Birthing from Within by Pam England CNM and Rob Horowitz PhD  This book is starting to help me face my fears about my birth experience in a healthy way.
